Please be patient as the pictures and sound file are loading. This may take a minute or two depending on the speed of your connection.

This is an antique circa 1880-1890 period musical trinket box.  It has a wood base structure an a plaster? layer that has molded musical instrument design which has a brassy gold color finish.  The interior has a velvet liner.  The inside of the box lid has a mirror in the middle and is surrounded by hand painted flowers. It features a Swiss changing 2 song 52 note  musical movement.  The case is in medium poor as ther are several places where the finish has chipped The cloth covering on the bottom is separating from the box in some places and is worn around the edges. The lock is missing a latch and key.  I did  made a plexi-glass cover for the movement and made a push/pull knob to operate the stop/start feature of the original movement. Please review the photos to evaluate the extent of the cosmetic condition.   I did perform a mild restoration and servicing to the musical movement which included new dampers. The geneva stop is missing from the winding spring housing.  This will not hinder anything (its function is not critical to the operation of the mechanical movement). The winding key is a new clock key. I did notice some missing pins on the cylinder but there is no major difference in the quality of the sound. It is in excellent playing condition.  If your speakers are on you should be able to hear it playing. Please be advised that the music will sound better on good quality desktop speakers - Laptop computer speakers are generally poor reproducers of the mp3 file.
